Marion County firefighters union donates needed supplies to annual Bus Brigade

Marion County firefighters recently donated much-needed school supplies to the annual Bus Brigade.

Members of the Professional Firefighters of Marion County Local 3169 have donated a variety of school supplies to the annual Bus Brigade, which supports local disadvantaged students.

Members of the Professional Firefighters of Marion County Local 3169 attended the Aug. 4 county commission meeting to deliver 100 backpacks, 100 reusable water bottles and school supplies. The Bus Brigade supports local disadvantaged students in supplying them with the tools to be successful during the upcoming school year.

“The firefighters, paramedics and EMTs of MCFR and our International Association of Firefighters Local Union continue to amaze me with their selfless dedication to our mission and our citizens,” said Fire Chief James Banta. “Not only do they protect and serve, but they invest in our community through outreach programs like Bus Brigade. The donations of backpacks, water bottles and school supplies will enable 100 families to have peace of mind during such hard economic times.”
