A bicyclist was killed Tuesday night when he was struck by a vehicle in Marion County.
The 58-year-old man was riding northbound on N.E. 25th Avenue in the right portion of the travel lane without proper lighting on his bicycle. The SUV also was traveling north shortly after 9:30 p.m. when the right front of the vehicle collided with the rear of the bicycle, a Florida Highway Patrol report states.
Both the bicycle and bicyclist came to rest on the east grass shoulder of N.E. 25th Avenue. The bicyclist was pronounced dead at the scene by Marion County Fire Rescue, the FHP report says.
