A 52-year-old Dunnellon woman was arrested after she admitted to initiating a shoving match with her roommate because he left the kitchen dirty the previous night.
Kimberly Dawn Marnen was charged with simple battery, which happened around 8 a.m. Wednesday at her residence on SW 181st Court. Marnen, who reported the incident, told a Marion County sheriff’s deputy the victim cooked in the kitchen on Tuesday night and when she woke up, the kitchen was dirty, according to the sheriff’s office report.
Marnen said when she told the victim to clean the kitchen, she shoved him to adhere to adhere to COVID-19 social distancing rules. She said Marnen shoved her back, causing her to fall to the ground, the report said.
The deputy observed Marnen was slurring her words and struggling to maintain her balance while standing, and she also had a strong odor of alcohol on her breath. She said she had been drinking beer according to the report.
The victim told the deputy Marnen awakened him and his girlfriend by banging on the bedroom door. He said when he answered it, she yelled at him to clean the kitchen from the previous night. The victim said Marnen shoved him and he shoved her back, pushing her to the ground, the report said.
The victim’s girlfriend corroborated his story, saying Marnen was belligerent and pushed the victim first, according to the report.
Marnen was taken to the Marion County Jail, where she was released Thursday on her own recognizance. She will appear in Marion County Jail on Oct. 6.
