51-year-old Ocala man killed when vehicle slams into fence in Marion County

A 51-year-old Ocala man was killed late Thursday afternoon in a single-vehicle crash in Marion County.

The incident took place shortly after 5 p.m. when the man was traveling north on SW 140th Avenue at a high rate of speed. He veered to the right south of County Road 328 toward the east grass shoulder, overcorrected and then veered onto the west grass shoulder, a Florida Highway Patrol report states.

The SUV started to spin, traveled onto the northwest shoulder of the roadway and collided with a wooden fence. The vehicle came to rest facing north on the fence line. The driver received fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by a paramedic from Marion County Fire Rescue, the FHP report says.
