Ocala woman jailed after smashing SUV windows with jack handle

Cassandra Marie-Mata Rincon

An Ocala woman was arrested after admitting she smashed the windows of an SUV with a jack handle during a domestic disturbance.

Cassandra Marie-Mata Rincon, 31, of SW 34th Place, was charged with simple battery and criminal mischief with damage of between $200 and $1,000 after the incident, which happened around 9:30 p.m. Sept. 5.

Rincon told Marion County sheriff’s deputies that she and the victim were arguing when he put his finger in her face and she smacked it away. She said the victim then slapped her on the arm, according to the sheriff’s office report.

Rincon said after the first incident, the victim threw a bottle at her, but it didn’t strike her. She said she thew something back at him and it also missed. Rincon then said she grabbed a jack handle and broke the passenger side window of the gray Toyota SUV leased to the victim, the report said.

The victim said Rincon entered the residence and asked him to step outside. He said he walked outside and sat in a chair on the porch. The victim said they got into an argument and Rincon started striking him while he was seated outside on the porch, according to the report.

The victim said Rincon walked away from him. He said he reached into the SUF and removed the keys from the ignition after Rincon told him her child was with her other child’s father. The victim said Rincon grabbed a jack handle and started breaking the windows of the SUV, the report said.

The deputies observed the back window and driver-side window were broken. Damage was estimated to be between $200 and $1,000. Two eyewitnesses confirmed they saw Rincon hitting the victim and smashing the SUV windows, according to the report.

Rincon was first taken to The Centers behavioral health facility because she said she felt like killing herself if she didn’t have her medication. She was moved to the Marion County Jail on Wednesday and released Friday on $200 bond. Rincon is scheduled to appear in Marion County Court on Oct. 23.
