Two Ocala men jailed on multiple charges after pursuit ends with crash into utility pole

Two Ocala men found themselves behind bars early Thursday morning after fleeing from Ocala Police officers and crashing into a utility pole.

Kenneth D. McChristian and Corey Andrew Carnegie

Officers attempted to stop a white sedan for a moving violation when the driver, later identified as 50-year-old Kenneth D. McChristian, refused to pull over. Officers initiated a pursuit and a short time later McChristian failed to negotiate a curve in the 400 block of N.W. 27th Avenue and slammed into the utility pole, a police report states.

McChristian was taken into custody and transported to the Marion County Jail, where he was charged with fleeing and eluding. He was released late Thursday morning on $5,000 bond and his next court date hasn’t yet been set, jail records show.

McChristian’s passenger, 33-year-old Corey Andrew Carnegie, also was arrested and charged with trafficking in Oxycodone, possession with intent to sell and possession of cannabis. He also was arrested on active warrants for trafficking cocaine and marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and multiple weapons violations and was being held on $31,000 bond on the new charges and no bond on the previous charges. His next court date hasn’t yet been set, jail records show.
