An Ocala man found himself behind bars on multiple charges Thursday after running through a stop sign.
A Marion County sheriff’s deputy stopped a black Mitsubishi SUV in the 1800 block of S.W. Hwy. 484 and made contact with the vehicle’s driver, 26-yeaer-old Daijaquan SL Smith. Through the course of the investigation, Smith was found to be in possession of MDMA and a concealed firearm in the center console of the vehicle, a sheriff’s office report states.
Smith, who initially gave the deputy a false name because he thought he was wanted on a child support warrant, was placed under arrested and transported to the Marion County Jail. He was charged with possession of a controlled substance without a prescription, giving false identification to a law enforcement officer, possession and/or use of drug equipment, displaying a firearm during a felony and carrying an unlicensed concealed weapon.
Smith was released early Friday morning on $8,000 bond. His next court date hasn’t yet been set, jail records show.
