Marion firefighters battle camper fire that threatened Ocklawaha residence

Multiple crews from Marion County Fire Rescue battled a camper fire late Monday afternoon in Ocklawaha.

Multiple crews from Marion County Fire Rescue fought a fire Monday that destroyed a camper in Ocklawaha.

Firefighters responded to the blaze in the 16000 block of S.E. 100th Lane shortly before 4 p.m. A 911 caller reported that the burning camper was close to a residential structure, a report states.

A district captain was the first arrive and reported that the camper was 75 percent consumed by flames and sitting about 25 feet from the residence. Firefighters from Lynne Station #4, Shores Station #17 and Weirsdale Station #27 arrived on scene a short time later and crews deployed hose lines and began an aggressive attack on the fire.

Firefighters from Station #17 completed a primary search of the camper with no victims found. There were no injuries reported. The cause and origin of the blaze remains under investigation.
