Citra woman jailed on multiple charges after allegedly kicking Marion sheriff’s deputy

Bertie Vivian Miller

A 38-year-old Citra woman was jailed early Sunday morning after Marion County sheriff’s deputies were called to a residence in connection with a possible battery.

Deputies responded to the residence in the 14600 block of N.E. 64th Avenue and upon their arrival, they established probable cause to arrest 38-year-old Bertie Vivian Miller for battering a victim. As deputies attempted to arrest Miller, she allegedly started kicking a deputy, who then attempted to use a leg sweep to take her to the ground, a sheriff’s office report states, adding that she continued to resist arrest.

Miller eventually was taken into custody. A deputy searched her purse and located Oxycodone pills. She was then transported to the Marion County Jail.

Miller was charged with domestic battery, battery on a law enforcement officer, resisting an officer with violence and possession of a controlled substance. She was being held on no bond on the domestic battery charge and $12,000 bond on the remaining charges. Her next court date hasn’t yet been set, jail records show.
