Mom reports oft-arrested son for trespassing

Joseph John Wiater

A 41-year-old Silver Springs who has been in and out of jail for nearly his entire adult life is back on the inside after his mother reported him for trespassing in a camper on her property.

A Marion County sheriff’s deputy responded Tuesday to a residence on NE 168th Terrace, where the resident said she observed someone on her property she believed was her son, Joseph John Wiater. The victim said she had Wiater trespassed from the property on Aug. 31, according to the sheriff’s office report.

The victim said Wiater may be hiding in a camper on the property. Upon arriving at the camper, the deputy observed the door was open and Wiater was standing just inside. After detaining Wiater, the deputy conducted a records check to confirm the trespass warning was active and non-expiring, the report said.

Marion County Jail records show with two dozen prior arrests dating back to 2002 on charges including battery, violating a domestic violence injunction, criminal mischief, resisting arrest, burglary, grand theft, dealing in stolen property, drug possession, failure to pay child support, passing bad checks and forgery.
