Ocala man charged with trying to taser man who was protecting girls

Chaz Romero White

A 33-year-old Ocala man was arrested Thursday after he allegedly tried to tase a man who confronted him about trying to pick up underage girls.

Chaz Romero White, 33, of 8872 SE Juniper Road #4, was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill and resisting an officer without violence.

The victim told a Marion County sheriff’s deputy that White had been harassing his daughter and his neighbor’s daughter at the bus stop for weeks. He said White was asking his daughter for her phone number. The victim said White doesn’t live in the area and is often at the bus stop talking to underage girls, according to the sheriff’s office report.

The victim said he saw White in the street in front of his residence and approached him to ask why he was near his home and the bus stop. He said White challenged him to a fight and displayed a taser. The victim said White started arcing the taser and swinging at him in an effort to tase him. He said he had to step back to avoid being tased, the report said.

The victim’s neighbor said she saw the disturbance confirmed White tried to tase the victim during the disturbance, according to the report.

Another deputy saw White walking on the road near 33 Larch Course and tried to talk to him while driving a marked patrol car and wearing a patrol uniform. White fled on foot but was detained after a short pursuit, the report said.

White had a taser in his possession that was operational. He denied the assault, according to the report.

White was taken to the Marion County Jail, where he is being held on $3,000 bond.
