Left-behind driver’s license leads to arrest of 2 Ocala men on multiple charges

Two Ocala men who allegedly went on a burglary and cigarette-smoking spree at area convenience stores were nabbed Sunday after leaving behind a variety of items – including a driver’s license.

Robert Creason Hobby and Marcus Reeves

Marion County sheriff’s deputies arrested 41-year-old Robert Creason Hobby and 23-year-old Marcus Reeves and transported them to the Marion County Jail, where they each are facing a variety of theft and burglary charges. Each one is being held on $56,000 bond and both are due in court Nov. 11 at 9 a.m. to answer to the charges.

Deputies say the two men targeted convenience stores in Ocala and other parts of the county and stole cigarettes and lottery tickets. But while committing the crimes, they were seen on surveillance video smoking cigarettes inside the stores. They also left behind a shoe, tools and Reeve’s wallet, which contained his driver’s license, a sheriff’s office report states.

Deputies then went to Reeves’ residence and he confessed to the crimes, the report says.
