An Ocala-based church is looking to offer free turkeys to needy families this Thanksgiving.
The organization, House of Presence International, Inc., will host their first ever drive-thru “Free Turkey” community event on Saturday, Nov. 21 at 674 Silver Road (Silver Springs Shore Presbyterian Church).
The organization, which is run by Isai and Jessenia Aviles, will offer 70 turkeys to families in need. The event will start at 10 a.m. and end at 2 p.m. or as long as supplies last.
“As a church, we understand that this year has been a difficult year for everyone,” said the church in a Facebook post. “Today, more than ever, it is our longing desire that families gather together and celebrate Thanksgiving with their families.”
There is a one turkey limit per family, and all families will be asked to provide an ID and a light or water bill before receiving a turkey. Families will be able to pick up turkeys without leaving their vehicle in an effort to adhere to COVID-19 sanitary protocols.
House of Presence International, Inc. is a local church offering group services every Tuesday, prayer and worship services every Thursday evening, and Sunday service starting at 10:30 a.m.
