Deacon Robert Butler

Deacon Robert Butler, 96, was born May 30, 1924 in Ocala, Florida. He is the proud son of Samuel and Daisy Butler. He attended Fessenden Academy School in Marion County. He was employed with the City of Ocala, Sanitation Department.

In his early days, he gave his life to Christ and became a faithful member of Progressive Union Baptist Church, Martin, Florida. He later met his beautiful bride, Susie Mae Graham, they were soon united in holy matrimony.

He attended Progressive Union Baptist Church and was a member of the Trustee and the Male Choir. He was also a member of Masonic Lodge. He had a God given gift of leading devotion, which made many of opportunity at other churches.

He leaves to cherish fond memories of him with his three loving children: Geneva Butler of Ocala, FL, Robert (Dorothy) Butler of Daytona Beach, FL, and Elder Calvin R. (Shirley) Butler of Tampa, FL; two stepchildren: Blanch James of Ocala, FL and Jerlene Jones Stiggons of Daytona Beach, FL; eight grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, nephews and friends.

Deacon Robert Butler’s earthly journey ended on October 7, 2020. He was preceded in death by his daughter: Sherly Ann Butler and parents: Samuel and Daisy Butler.
