An Ocala man was jailed recently after a Marion County sheriff’s deputy spotted a U-Haul truck traveling at more than 100 mph.
The deputy was traveling in the 5800 block of S.E. Maricamp Road when he spotted the truck, which was being driven by 48-year-old William Louis Dean. The deputy attempted to make a traffic stop but the truck failed to stop, a Marion County Sheriff’s office report states.
The deputy then initiated a pursuit that continued until the truck stopped on Fir Trail Trace. Dean was then arrested and transported to the Marion County Jail, where he was charged with fleeing and eluding police/failing to obey a law enforcement officer’s order to stop. He was released on $5,000 bond and his next court date hasn’t yet been set, jail records show.
