Oft-arrested Belleview man jailed after caught driving with burned-out headlight

Jesse Ortiz Pena

A Belleview man with a history of driving without a license was jailed Monday night after he was caught driving with a burned-out headlight.

A Belleview Police officer stopped 40-year-old Jesse Ortiz Pena, who was driving his black Chevy on S.E. Lake Lillian Circle. Pena told the officer he didn’t have his driver’s license with him and provided a name and date of birth that didn’t show any matching results during a computer check, a police report states.

After the officer questioned Pena, he admitted that his license was suspended and he only had a Florida identification card. A records check showed that his license had been suspended since June 3, 2014 and he had six prior suspensions for driving with license suspended or revoked. The officer also was alerted that Pena was on felony probation for driving while license suspended, the report says.

Pena, who lives at 10808 S.E. 58th Ave. in Belleview, was placed under arrest and transported to the Marion County Jail, where he was charged with driving while license suspended or revoked (third or subsequent offense). He also was charged with probation violations on prior charges of felony driving with license suspended or revoked and possession of cannabis less than 20 grams. He was being held on no bond and is due court Nov. 18 and Nov. 24, jail records show.
