65-year-old Ocala woman killed in crash when truck’s tire blows out

A 65-year-old Ocala woman was killed in a crash Sunday afternoon on U.S. Hwy. 27 in Marion County after a vehicle’s tire blew out.

The woman was a passenger in a sport utility vehicle driven by a 62-year-old Ocala man which had been eastbound at 2 p.m. on U.S. Hwy. 27 near its intersection with NW 55th Avenue when a tire blew out on a pickup and it crossed the center median, according to an arrest report from the Florida Highway Patrol. The two vehicles collided.

The 65-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene due to injuries suffered in the crash. The driver of the SUV was critically injured. The 22-year-old Ocala man driving the pickup suffered minor injuries.
