Ocala man jailed after fight with man he says stole money and gun

Javon Darius King

An Ocala man is accused of beating up a man he claims stole money and a gun out of his room.

Javon Darius King, 29, of 3346 SE 73rd St., was charged with simple battery after the incident, which happened around noon Wednesday at his residence.

A Marion County sheriff’s deputy responded to the incident location, where King said the victim arrived on his property and they started arguing about money and a gun that was missing from his room. He said the victim threw a punch at him, and he grabbed the victim to restrain him, according to the sheriff’s office report.

King said he let go of the victim, and the victim threw another punch and a fight ensued. He said the victim hit him multiple times in the face, but the deputy did not observe any injuries consistent with his statement, the report said.

The victim returned to the incident location and answered the deputy’s questions about what happened. He said he arrived at the residence to check on his father, who lives there, when King came outside and started arguing with him about money and a gun he believes the victim stole, according to the report.

The victim said he got out of the car and King struck him in the face, breaking his glasses and knocking him back into the car. He said King continued to strike him in the face. The victim had multiple bruises and red marks on his face consistent with his story, the report said.

King was determined to be the aggressor and placed under arrest. He was taken to the Marion County Jail, where he was released Wednesday night on $1,000 bond. No court information was available.
