An Ocala man was jailed recently after Marion County sheriff’s deputies were called to a local Wal-Mart.
Their investigation showed that 47-year-old Stephen Keith Ponder had entered the store, located on S.W. Hwy. 200, on six different days and failed to scan items while using the self-checkout stations. He was later located at his residence and placed under arrest.
Ponder was transported to the Marion County Jail and charged with six counts of larceny/petit theft (third or subsequent offense) and his bond was revoked on a previous larceny/petit theft charge. He was released on $13,000 bond and his next court date hasn’t yet been set, jail records show.
