Two good Samaritans rescued a critically injured Ocala truck driver after a fiery crash Friday morning in Citrus County.
The 40-year-old was traveling east on Dunnellon Road when a tire blew out. He lost control of the tractor trailer, which ran off the road onto the south shoulder and collided with several trees. The vehicle then overturned and caught fire, a Florida Highway Patrol report states.
Shortly after the crash, the good Samaritans saw what had happened and made contact with the driver, who was struggling to exit his vehicle. They cut his seatbelt, removed him from the burning truck and provided aid until fire crews and paramedics arrived, the FHP report says.
