Marion County Fire Rescue signs mutual aid pact with Lake County Fire Rescue

Marion County Fire Rescue has partnered with Lake County Fire Rescue to reduce response times along the Marion/Lake county line.

The approval of an automatic aid agreement by the Marion County Board of County Commissioners will enhance fire rescue response to residents and businesses along the county line for emergencies. The closest unit will respond regardless of jurisdictional boundaries to provide the most appropriate help in the quickest amount of time.

Automatic aid agreements allow jurisdictions to share resources and provide the best service possible to all in need within the representative areas. Sharing resources results in savings for both counties and promotes fiscal responsibility.

As an added benefit, property owners may now be eligible for premium reductions and are encouraged to contact their insurance companies for potential insurance savings due to this agreement. Any savings will be determined by each provider and subject to the terms and conditions of the associated policy. Also, properties that may not have been able to attain insurance previously may now be able to secure coverage based upon the new agreement.
Residents are urged to contact their provider to confirm whether a verification letter is required to activate potential savings. If required, a letter may be obtained online at  MarionCountyFL.org/MCFRinsuranceSavings.

Marion County Fire Rescue also is pursuing similar agreements with surrounding jurisdictions. For more information, call (352) 291-8000 or visit MarionCountyFL.org/MCFRinsuranceSavings.
