Ocala woman sleeping behind wheel charged with driving with a suspended license

Dawn Marie Sisk

An Ocala woman was charged with driving with a suspended license after she was caught asleep behind the wheel of a vehicle at a gas pump Monday afternoon.

A Marion County sheriff’s deputy responded around 1 p.m. to the Marathon convenience store at 5245 E. Silver Springs in response to a woman appearing to be unconscious behind the wheel of a 2006 Mercedes.

The deputy found the woman – Dawn Marie Sisk, 32, of 5051 SE 29th St. Apt. C – sitting in the driver’s seat with the keys nearby. The deputy asked Sisk for her driver’s license and she provided a Florida ID card, according to the sheriff’s office report.

Sisk told the deputy she was only driving to the store from her motel room and she knew she didn’t have a valid driver’s license. A records check confirmed her license was suspended indefinitely in 2011 for failure to pay financial obligations, the report said.

Sisk was taken to the Marion County Jail, where she was released Tuesday on $500 bond. No court information was available.
