Ottis Gray Sheppard

Ottis Gray Sheppard, age 89, a native of Beaufort County, died Saturday, October 31, 2020 at his home in Ocala, Florida.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM Wednesday, November 11, 2020 at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington. A graveside service will follow at Pamlico Memorial Gardens in Washington.

Mr. Sheppard was born in Beaufort County on August 11, 1931. He was the son of the late James Evans Sheppard and Katie Nancy Cox Sheppard. Mr. Sheppard graduated from Washington High School in 1949. Mr. Sheppard enlisted in the Air Force in 1951. He was a retired residential contractor. Mr. Sheppard was a member of the V.F.W., the American Legion and the Air Force Sergeant’s Association. He was a former member of the Kiwanis Club and the Moose Lodge. In his spare time, Mr. Sheppard enjoyed traveling and playing golf.

Mr. Sheppard is survived by his wife, Karen of the home; two sons, Ottis Gray Sheppard, Jr. and wife, Amber, James A Sheppard and wife, Georgie all of Atlanta, GA; daughter, Marcia Campbell and husband, Ernie of Lincoln, NB; step son, Craig Davis of Ocala, FL, step daughter, Carisa Davis of Fords, N.J.; grandson, Shane Sheppard, granddaughter, Grayce Sheppard; great grandson, Ryan Sheppard, step grandsons, Aaron Davis and Max Cucchiaro and step granddaughter, Darcy Cucchiaro.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Sheppard was preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters.
