36-year-old motorcyclist killed in head-on crash in Marion County

A 36-year-old Silver Springs motorcyclist was killed late Saturday afternoon when he collided head-on with a SUV on County Road 314 in Marion County.

The crash happened at about 4:45 p.m. just south of N.E. 52nd Place Road when the northbound motorcycle crossed over the double yellow center line and slammed into the southbound SUV. The motorcyclist, was who was wearing a helmet, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. As of Sunday night, his next of kin hadn’t yet been notified, a Florida Highway Patrol report states.

Both the 26-year-old driver of the SUV and her 26-year-old passenger were from Jacksonville. Both of the women were wearing their seat belts and received minor injuries, the FHP report says.
