Citra man popped with drugs while being arrested on burglary charge

A Citra man was arrested recently in connection with a burglary that took place last month.

A Marion County sheriff’s deputy and a detective located 41-year-old Thomas Marshall Spingler in the 16500 block of NE 30th Court. The detective had probable cause to arrest Spingler in connection with the burglary, which took place Oct. 1.

As Spingler was being taken into custody, the deputy located a syringe filled with methamphetamine in his pants pocket, the report states. Spingler was then transported to the Marion County Jail and charged with unarmed burglary of an unoccupied structure, larceny/grand theft, possession and/or use of drug equipment and a parole violation from a case in Leon County. He was being held on $21,000 bond on the new charges and no bond on the previous charge and is due in court Dec. 8 and Dec. 11, jail records show.
