Marion County Public Schools cancel classes as Tropical Storm Eta makes landfall

Marion County Public Schools has cancelled classes for Thursday, November 12, in anticipation of Tropical Storm Eta making landfall in Florida.

The announcement was posted earlier today through the MCPS website and social media.

“Based on weather predictions and out of an abundance of caution, school is cancelled for MCPS tomorrow (Thursday)” said the release.

Classes are scheduled to resume Friday with normal schedules.

Earlier today, the National Weather Service issued a Tropical Storm Warning for the Ocala area. Tropical Storm Eta, which was downgraded from a hurricane earlier today, is scheduled to make landfall on Florida’s west coast over the coming 24 hours.
