Students encouraged to apply to ‘Shark Tank’ style business plan competition

Students across the county are being encouraged to apply to be a part of a local “Shark Tank” style competition hosted by the chamber.

The seventh annual Youth Business Plan Competition will be hosted by the Ocala/Marion County Chamber and Economic Partnership beginning later this month. The competition is open to all 9th through 12th grade students in Marion County, whether they attend public, private, or are home-schooled.

For students interested in participating, all applications are due by Monday, Nov. 30, at 5 p.m. The five finalists will be notified by Dec. 4 and will present to local “sharks” on Monday, Dec. 14 at 5 p.m.

The first place team will receive a prize package valued at $10,000, including $8,000 in cash. Second and third places will receive $4,000 and $3,000, respectively.
