A 26-year-old Ocala woman was arrested early Wednesday after she allegedly hit a man over the head multiple times with a blow dryer after he asked her who she was talking to on the phone.
Kadedra A. Durden told a Marion County sheriff’s deputy that she and the victim got into an argument when her phone rang at around 2:17 a.m. She said the victim entered the room and asked who she was talking to. The relationship between Durden and the victim was redacted from the sheriff’s office report.
Durden said she got up out of bed and moved towards the victim, saying she was grown and could talk to whoever she wanted. She said the victim grabbed her arms as she advanced towards him. Durden said at that point, she grabbed the victim’s hair and put her hand into a fist, acting as if she was going to punch him, according to the report.
Durden said the victim walked into the living room and she followed him while she was holding a blow dryer. She told the sheriff’s office dispatcher that she threatened to hit the victim with the blow dryer, the report said.
The victim said he called Durden’s phone at 2:17 a.m. to see if she would answer, since he heard her talking to someone from the living room. He said Durden was awake when he entered the room after she didn’t answer his call. The victim said when he asked Durden who she was talking to, she said she was grown and could talk to whoever she wanted, according to the report.
The victim said Durden then advanced towards him and pulled his hair. He said she grabbed her blow dryer and followed him to the living room, striking him four times on the head with it. The victim said that is when he called law enforcement, the report said.
The deputy did not see any visible injuries on the victim or Durden. However, the victim had a small area of scalp exposed where he said he was struck with the blow dryer. The deputy observed a blue blow dryer in the living room where the victim said the incident happened, according to the report.
Durden was charged with simple battery and taken to the Marion County Jail, where she was released Thursday on her own recognizance. She is scheduled to appear in Marion County Court on Dec. 29.
