Marion sheriff’s K-9 nabs Ocklawaha man wanted on Georgia warrant for robbery

Jason James Blackwell

An Ocklawaha man was jailed on multiple charges recently after he was apprehended by a Marion County sheriff’s K-9 unit.

Sheriff’s deputies responded a home in the 10800 block of SE 146th Terrace Road in reference to a disturbance involving 42-year-old Jason Blackwell. On the way to the residence, deputies learned that Blackwell was wanted on a warrant out of Georgia for robbery by sudden snatching, a sheriff’s office report states.

Blackwell fled from the residence and hid from deputies. A K-9 team tracked him to his hiding spot and the dog apprehended Blackwell. During the arrest, deputies discovered that Blackwell was in possession of drug paraphernalia, the report says.

After being apprehended, Blackwell asked deputies what he did wrong. He was placed under arrest and transported to the Marion County Jail, where he was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and the Georgia warrant for robbery by sudden snatching. He was being held on no bond, jail records show.
