Ocala man back in jail for allegedly pushing woman down

Jesse Tyler Carlson

A 26-year-old Ocala man was arrested for the third time this year after he allegedly pushed a woman to the ground and took off in a vehicle with a child.

The victim told a Marion County sheriff’s deputy that she and Jesse Tyler Carlson were supposed to run errands on Monday when he became upset and they got into an argument. She said Carlson put the child into the car with no seat belt and tried to leave, according to the sheriff’s office report.

The victim said she took the child out of the car and Carlson became more upset and pushed her to the ground, causing her to hit her elbow and fall on her back. She said Carlson put the child back in the car and left the scene, the report said.

The deputy contacted Carlson on his cell phone and told him to find a place to meet and Carlson hung up on him. The deputy could hear Carlson saying to the victim she would never see the child again before he hung up. The deputy texted Carlson to contact him but got no response, according to the report.

The victim’s mother arrived a short time later and said she was on the phone during the incident and heard what happened. She later called and said she found Carlson’s rental vehicle outside a trailer at the Golden Hills Mobile Home Park, 7865 W. Hwy. 40. The deputy responded to the location and found the vehicle. Carlson wasn’t there but the child was present, the report said.

After the child was returned to the victim’s mother, Carlson agreed to speak to the deputy. He said nothing physical took place and denied anything happened, according to the report.

The deputy observed the victim had dirt on the buttocks area of her pants and the back of her shirt, which was consistent with her story of being pushed down. She said she also hurt her elbow when he was pushed backwards. She declined to be taken to the hospital by Marion County Fire Rescue Unit 12, the report said.

Carlson was arrested in July on charges of dealing methamphetamine, possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, carrying a concealed weapon without a permit, possession of drug paraphernalia and cruelty towards a child. He was arrested again in October for driving with a suspended or revoked license (second offense), according to Marion County Jail records.

Carlson was arrested and charged with simple battery after the latest incident. He was released Tuesday on $1,000 bond and will appear in Marion County Court on Dec. 23.
