Vomiting Ocala woman popped for DUI after girls’ night out

Tonya Ann Audit

What started as a girls’ night out for an Ocala woman ended with her in the Marion County Jail on a DUI charge.

A Marion County sheriff’s deputy conducting a security check Saturday night at the Wawa at 3080 SE Maricamp Road observed a woman sleeping in a black Toyota SUV. The woman was identified as Tonya Audit, 38, of 630 SE 29th Terrace, according to the sheriff’s office report.

The deputy asked Audit if she was OK and she said she was. She declined medical attention multiple times. Asked how much she had to drink, Audit said, “a lot,” and then she said, “I know I shouldn’t be driving,” the report said.

While speaking with Audit, the deputy observed she had bloodshot watery eyes and mumbled slurred speech. There was a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on her breath, according to the report.

The deputy asked Audit several times to step out of the vehicle. She vomited on the ground while being helped out of the vehicle and needed assistance walking to the patrol car. The car keys were located in the center console next to where Audit was sitting, the report said.

Due to Audit’s level of intoxication, she was unable to complete field sobriety exercises. The deputy determined her normal faculties were impaired based on his observations and Audit’s statements, according to the report.

Once at the jail, Audit refused to provide a breath sample for testing. She said she had been drinking since noon. She said she was at Carrabba’s, then went to a piano bar and O’Malley’s. Audit said she was out on a girls’ night and was drinking mixed drinks, the report said.

Audit was released Sunday on $1,000 bond. No court information was available.
