Silver Springs woman charged with battering underwear-clad man

Connie Frey Chamale

A Silver Springs woman who couldn’t keep her story straight during a domestic battery arrest in April is back in the Marion County Jail after she allegedly beat up a man while he was in his underwear on Sunday.

A Marion County sheriff’s deputy responded to a report of a physical disturbance at a residence on NE 172nd Avenue. The victim was sitting in his car outside the home wearing only his underwear. His face, nose and ears were covered with blood, according to the sheriff’s office report.

The victim said he and 37-year-old Connie Frey Chamale got into an argument in his bedroom and she threw water on him. He said he tried to leave the room and Chamale started to attack him. The victim said Chamale scratched him in the face and neck, the report said.

The victim said after he left his room, he went to his dad’s room and said he was being attacked by Chamale. He said at this point, Chamale attacked him by grabbing his underwear, causing him to fall to the floor, and then grabbed his scrotum area. The victim said due to the confined space, he had to physically push her to get away and call law enforcement. He said during both physical altercations, Chamale bit him and punched him in the left eye, according to the report.

The victim’s father said he didn’t see anything happen between the two, but he heard them yelling and arguing. He said he did see blood on both parties, the report said.

After being read her Miranda warning, Chamale said she did not attack the victim. She said he bit her finger and choked her, but the deputy didn’t observe any redness that would corroborate her story. Chamale also said the victim threw water on her, but the deputy didn’t see any water on her, either, according to the report.

The deputy observed numerous scratches with red blood on the victim’s lips, ears, face, shoulder area, stomach area and around his neck. The victim’s left eye was also swollen, the report said.

Chamale was arrested and charged with battery (second or subsequent offense). She’s being held in the Marion County Jail on $500 bond and will appear in Marion County Court on Dec. 29.
