Ocala man says he punched man who kept arguing with him

Austin Iasiah Adams

A 23-year-old Ocala man admitted to punching another man in the face during a domestic spat because he’s tired of the victim arguing with him all the time.

Austin Iasiah Adams, 23, was charged with simple domestic battery after the incident, which happened around 6:30 p.m. Wednesday. The relationship between Adams and the victim was redacted from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office report.

The victim told a sheriff’s deputy that he and Adams were trying to speak to Adams’ mother when Adams became irate and flipped over the kitchen table, then picked up a chair in the kitchen and slammed it to the floor. He said Adams charged towards him aggressively, punched him in the faced and tackled him to the ground, the report said.

The victim said a witness, whose name and relationship was redacted, separated him and Adams. He said at no time did he hit Adams, according to the report.

The witness gave a similar account of the incident and said she broke up the altercation and called 911. She said Adams has anger issues and really needs help, the report said.

Adams was taken to the Marion County Jail, where he was released early Saturday on $500 bond. He’ll appear in Marion County Court on Feb. 9, 2021.
