Ocala woman admits she tried to throw mason jar at couple during spat

Wanda Ivette Gonzalez

A 58-year-old Ocala woman was arrested after she admitted to trying to throw a mason jar at a man and woman during an argument with the couple early Sunday morning.

The female victim told a Marion County sheriff’s deputy that Wanda Ivette Gonzalez became angry when she came home around 2 a.m. after doing a client’s hair. She said Gonzalez became belligerent with her in the living room, and she tried to get away from her by going into the master bedroom, according to the sheriff’s office report.

The victim said Gonzalez followed her into the bedroom and continued yelling at her. She said she was standing on the bed when Gonzalez thew a mason at her, striking her on her left calf and leaving a small blue contusion. The victim said Gonzalez kept coming towards her, grabbing her legs and dragging her off the bed. This left the victim with bloody scratch marks on her right calf, the report said.

At this point, the victim’s husband stood up from the bed and tried to pull the women apart. Gonzalez started striking the second victim and then picked up the mason jar again and tried to throw it at him. The second victim said he didn’t know whether it hit him, according to the report.

The second victim said Gonzalez kept throwing things at him and struck him multiple times. He said she did hit him with the jar during the argument, the report said.

Gonzalez told the deputy said she was in her bedroom minding her business when she heard the female victim come home late. She said she went to speak to the victim, who became verbally aggressive, and an argument ensued. Gonzalez admitted to trying to throw a mason jar at both victims but wouldn’t say anything about a physical altercation, according to the report.

After being arrested on a charge of simple domestic battery, Gonzalez said she was short of breath and had to be taken to the hospital. She was later medically cleared and taken to the Marion County Jail. Gonzalez is being held on $500 bond and will appear in Marion County Court on Feb. 3, 2021.
