Ocala woman popped at local motel with stolen Wal-Mart electric scooter

Avril Rene Toye

An Ocala woman was jailed recently after she was found at a local motel with a stolen electric scooter.

A Marion County sheriff’s deputy was called to the Stage Stop Inn, located at 51531 E. Silver Springs Blvd., in reference to a trespassing incident. When he arrived, he spoke with the motel’s manager, who said that 28-year-old Avril Rene Toye had taken an electric scooter from a nearby Wal-Mart, a sheriff’s office report states.

The deputy spoke with the manager at Wal-Mart, who confirmed that Toye had left the store with the scooter. She was then placed under arrest and transported to the Marion County Jail.

Toye was charged with larceny/grand theft and released the following day on $2,000 bond. She’s due in court Jan. 12 at 9 a.m. to answer to the charges, jail records show.
