Ocala man accused of battering his girlfriend’s mother

Khalif Abdul-Rahman Davis

A 25-year-old Ocala man was arrested after a physical altercation with his girlfriend’s mother.

Khalif Abdul-Rahman Davis was charged with simple domestic battery after the incident, which happened Dec. 16. Davis had been living at the victim’s residence since his release from jail in July.

A Marion County sheriff’s deputy responding to a report of a disturbance observed a man walking away from the residence with visible injuries. He was followed by his girlfriend, who was later identified as the victim. The man said he had been jumped by Davis and the victim’s son. He said he didn’t want to pursue charges against Davis or the victim’s son, according to the sheriff’s office report.

Davis said he and the victim’s boyfriend got into a physical altercation after a verbal altercation between the victim and her daughter. He said he was trying to keep the victim and her boyfriend from entering the residence prior to the physical altercation, the report said.

The victim said she was trying to break up the initial confrontation between Davis and her boyfriend outside the residence near her vehicle. She said Davis pushed her to the ground during the scuffle. The victim said Davis aggressively approached them again and she held up a beer bottle and held it up at him to keep him away, according to the report.

The victim said Davis pushed her down a second time in the roadway south of the residence. She said Davis is a household member and romantically involved with her daughter. She provided a sworn written statement, the report said.

A witness said she saw Davis push the victim to the ground twice. She provided a sworn statement, according to the report.

Davis was taken to the Marion County Jail, where he was released Dec. 19 on $500 bond. He’ll appear in Marion County Court on Feb. 3.
