Dolores (Scognamillo) Caruso

Dolores (Scognamillo) Caruso, 84, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on December 24, 2020, after a lengthy illness. She was born April 15, 1936, in New Haven, CT, the daughter of Frank J. and Clara (Balzano) Scognamillo.

Dolores graduated from Hillhouse High School Class of 1954. Following graduation, she attended Quinnipiac University School of Business for a time. She married her High School sweetheart on May 10, 1958. They had celebrated sixty-two (62) years of marriage this past May. She had worked most of her life, even while raising her three children. From Southern New England Telephone Company, to Mite Corporation, then on to Amphenol Spectra-Strip Corporation. Her final job was working for the Town of Orange in the Town Hall. Dolores spent most of her life residing in and around New Haven, CT. She became a longtime resident of the town of Orange, CT, moving there in 1968. After spending many winters down in Florida with her husband, they both decided to permanently relocate and moved to Ocala, FL.

Known by all to be a dedicated daughter, spouse, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, Dolores’s sweet and loving nature permeated to those around her. She left an impression on everyone she’d meet. She will be missed dearly by family and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her late husband Willian R. Caruso this past September.

She is survived by her three children. Son Richard FJ Caruso (Amy), of Big Lake Township, MN, and daughters Darlene Caruso Sparks (Steven) of Dunnellon, FL, as well as Laura Caruso Pierce (David) of Ocala, FL. Dolores was MeMa to seven Grandchildren: Eric C. Caruso (Denelle) of Escondido, CA, Richard W. Caruso (Mary) of Vista, CA, Stephen J. Caruso (Holeh) of Vista, CA, Bradley D. Pawlowicz (Staci) of Ocala, FL, David M. Pierce (Brittany) of Silver Springs Shores, FL, Brandon D. Pawlowicz (Kara) of Altamonte Springs, FL, and Christopher D. Pierce (Alyssa) of Ocala, FL. She also became Great MeMa to seven Great-Grandchildren as well: Gavin Morris Caruso, Christopher J Caruso, Taylor Caruso, Mason Wanat Caruso, Logan Caruso, Ava Marie Pierce, and Kade M. Pierce. She will always be remembered for her sweet and loving nature, and willingness to go out of her way to please.

Dolores will be interred, along with her husband, in the Saint Lawrence Cemetery, West Haven, CT next to her parents. A service of remembrance will be held prior to interment in Connecticut for family and friends. Due to current pandemic restrictions, the date and time of the service and interment are not yet determined. Notification will go out when appropriate.
