Ocala man once caught pleasuring himself on patio finally in Marion County Jail

Akyl Anthony Sean Howard

An Ocala man wanted on a multitude of crimes is behind bars after being transferred to the Marion County Jail from Georgia.

Akyl Anthony Sean Howard, 29, arrived at the jail on Tuesday. He was being sought on several warrants for burglary to an occupied dwelling, burglary of a dwelling with a battery, lewd and lascivious exhibition, video voyeurism of a victim under 16-years-old, three counts of indecent exposure of sexual organs and two failure to appear warrants for burglary and grand theft, jail records show.

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office first learned of Howard’s alleged crimes on July 5, 2019, when a victim called about a suspicious person on her back patio at 2 a.m. When the victim found Howard and asked what he was doing on her property, she realized he was masturbating. Howard shushed the victim and continued to touch himself until she went inside to call for help, at which time he fled the residence, a sheriff’s office report states.

On July 15, 2019, deputies responded to another call on after a 17-year-old victim advised she was awakened by a noise in her bedroom. She saw a silhouette enter her closet and thought it was her sister. However, when she neared the closet, she found Howard standing inside. The victim screamed and Howard fled the residence via the front door, pushing the 17-year-old victim’s mother out of his way, the report says.

Additionally, on July 22, 2019, Howard was at the Marion Oaks Community Center when a 13-year-old female noticed he was watching her. She later went to use the restroom, where she observed Howard reaching underneath the toilet stall with a cell phone in his hand. The victim was indecent at the time, so she kicked Howard’s hand in an attempt to prevent him from taking photos or videos of her. Howard was seen fleeing the women’s restroom and the Community Center on surveillance footage with his cellphone still in his hand, according to the report.

Marion County sheriff’s deputies and detectives were able to develop a connection between the crimes Howard committed because of close proximity in which they occurred, similar suspect descriptions from each victim and reports of the blue Grand Marquis Howard was driving. Howard was ultimately arrested in Georgia on December 13, 2019 for separate charges. He was in the custody of the Georgia Department of Corrections until his transfer to the Marion County Jail, where he is being held without bond.
