A 52-year-old Dunnellon woman is accused of battering a man in a fit of anger because she couldn’t operate the television.
The victim told a Marion County sheriff’s deputy that he arrived home from work at around 10 p.m. Tuesday and was met by Julie Anna Kuhlmann in the living room. He said Kuhlmann was acting very irate over not being able to operate the television in the living room, according to the sheriff’s office report.
The victim said Kuhlmann started throwing stuff across the living room and became verbally hostile towards him. He said she struck him with a closed fist on the right side of his face. The victim said after he was hit the first time, he stepped back and told Kuhlmann not to touch him out of anger, the report said.
The victim said after he told Kuhlmann that, she hit hi again on the right side of his face with a closed hand. He said after he was hit a second time, he grabbed Kuhlmann’s arms to stop her from hitting him again. The victim said once he believed Kuhlmann wasn’t going to hit him again, he released her arms and went outside into the front yard, according to the report.
The deputy observed injuries on the right side of the victim’s face with fresh blood coming from them, along with an injury underneath his eye that he said came from Kuhlmann striking him, the report said.
The deputy went inside and spoke with Kuhlmann, who said the victim arrived home angry due to her having him buy her Chinese food. She couldn’t give any other reason for the argument, saying only that the victim was being hostile for no reason. Without being asked, Kuhlmann said the victim grabbed her by the arms, which is why she hit him. Kuhlmann had no visible marks on her arms, according to the report.
Based on the totality of the circumstances, Kuhlmann was charged with simple domestic battery and taken to the Marion County Jail, where she was released Thursday on $500 bond. She will appear in Marion County Court on Feb. 19.
