Ocklawaha man fearing bombs from Trump jailed after nasty tiff with lady friend

Ryan James Viet

An Ocklawaha man who believed President Trump was going to send bombs and the “gates of hell” were in his yard is behind bars in the Marion County Jail.

Marion County sheriff’s deputies were called to a residence on S.E. 95th Street Road in Ocklawaha on Saturday and when they arrived, they spoke with a victim who had gone to a neighbor’s house to seek help. She claimed that 40-year-old Ryan James Viet had been acting irrational, a sheriff’s office report states.

The victim claimed that Viet had grabbed her by the arm earlier in the day and had threatened to inject her with Fentanyl. She told deputies that Viet had needles and she had seen needles lying around the residence. She added that she was in fear of Viet and was afraid to re-enter the residence, the report says.

Deputies spoke with Viet and reported that he was “highly irrational.” He was placed under a Baker Act due to his behavior and transported to The Vines Hospital in Ocala before eventually being transferred to the Marion County Jail.

Viet was charged with battery and simple assault with intent to do violence. He was being held on $3,000 bond and is due in court Feb. 9 to answer to the charges, jail records show.
