Jeannette Alice Mills

Jeannette Alice Mills, 96, of Ocala, FL was born on December 21, 1925 to Martha Louse Cole and Frank Cole in New York City, New York. She was the youngest of seven children and her oldest brother gave her the nick name “Honey.”

She attended the New York City Public School System where she completed her education at Central Commercial High school where she got her degree in Bookkeeping. She was the main entertainment attraction at her graduation and was offered a singing contract from a visiting talent scout. She refused the offer as she was engaged to Malcolm Mills from Tryon, North Carolina whom she married on August 11, 1945. She and Malcolm had a good life in New York where the raised two sons, Malcolm and Aaron. She pursued her career in bookkeeping and retired from Multiple Products as Head Bookkeeper.
Jeannette, her husband and her sister Marie Stuger, moved down to Ocala from New York in 1981. As part of their faith journey, she and Marie joined Zion UMC in 1982. Jeannette supported the church, by taking on various administrative tasks and was a faithful member even as her health began to fail. She was known for her sense of humor and her willingness to offer help to anyone who needed it. She belonged to the Red Hatters and the New York City Transit Club. She conducted water aerobics classes at To Your Health Spa until she had to give it up at age 94.
Jeannette transitioned from her physical life journey on January 10, 2021. She was preceded in death by her husband Malcolm Mills, her son Aaron Mills, her parents Martha and Frank Cole and six brothers and sisters.
She leaves behind her oldest son Malcolm Mills, Sister-in-law Anna Cole and a host of nieces, nephews, and special friends.
