Ocala woman charged with battering man while driving him to work

Jenee Elizabeth Jubin

An Ocala woman was arrested Sunday morning after she reportedly battered a man while she was driving him to work.

A Marion County sheriff’s deputy responded to a report of a man being battered by a woman in a grey Dodge Durango. Dispatch provided updates on where the vehicle was traveling until the deputy located it and conducted a traffic stop at the 4500 block of NW Highway 225A, according to the sheriff’s office report.

Once the Durango came to a stop, the driver – Jenee Elizabeth Jubin, 28, of SW 165th Avenue Road – got out and threw her phone to the ground. She was detained and put into the deputy’s patrol car, the report said.

The victim told the deputy he woke up Jubin that morning to take him to work and she was tired and not in a good mood. He said while she was driving him to work, they got into a verbal altercation and she tried to knock his food from his hand. The victim said Jubin then used an open hand and smacked him in the face, according to the report.

The victim said he called 911 and while he was on the phone with the 911 operator, Jubin punched him in the face nine or 10 times. He said when he saw the red and blue emergency lights from the deputy’s patrol car, he told Jubin to stop. The victim said Jubin didn’t stop at first but then she stopped abruptly and jumped out of the vehicle, the report said.

The victim had red marks on his face and a swollen lip and eye from where Jubin punched him. Jubin refused to speak to the deputy after being read her Miranda warning, according to the report.

Jubin was taken to the Marion County Jail, where she was released Monday on $150 cash bond. She is scheduled to appear in Marion County Court on March 3.
