Phillip Talmadge Thomas

Phillip Talmadge Thomas, 78, of Ocala, FL, passed away unexpectedly on December 4, 2020.

A private family service will be held at a later date at Antioch Cemetery in Island Grove, Florida.
Phillip was born in Gainesville, FL on August 23, 1942. He had fond memories of growing up in Island Grove, FL. He graduated from Hawthorne High School with honors and continued his education at LSU-School of Banking of the South, University of Colorado-School of Retail Banking, Central Florida Community College, and the American Institute of Banking.
Phillip was married to Beverly K. Thomas (Deceased) on March 29, 1980; they were married for 34 years.
Phillip worked as a Loan Officer and Bank Manager for Barnett Bank, Bank of Belleview and Citizen’s First Bank for 30+ years. He enjoyed golfing, gardening, hiking and cheering on the Gators. He was also involved in the Citizen’s Club, Chamber of Commerce, United Way and a member of the Ocala Elks Lodge.
Phillip was a friend to all. He was an artist, comedian, environmentalist, sports enthusiast, equal rights activist, dreamer, lover of the outdoors, and biggest cheerleader for his children and grandchildren.
Phillip is survived by is children: Traci Orme (Robbie), Mara Harrington (Jack), Cathy Balius (Rick), Klaus Heesch (Lisa), grandchildren: Jessica George (Zan), Hayleigh DeGiorgio (John), Jeremiah, Finley, and Erin, great-grandchildren: Luke and Emma and many other family and friends.
Phillip is preceded in death by his beloved wife Beverly K. Thomas, and parents Marion and Mervin Thomas.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be sent to Oakcrest Elementary in honor of Phillip T. Thomas, 1112 NE 28th Street, Ocala, FL 34470. All donations will be used to establish a family resource room in Phillip’s name for Oakcrest Elementary School families.
