Ocala man jailed on battery charge after tiff with knife-pulling gal pal

Yirver Aquino-Made

An Ocala man was arrested recently after a battle with his lady friend after disciplining children because they didn’t want to go to sleep.

Marion County sheriff’s deputies responded to a residence on Hemlock Place and spoke with 36-year-old Yirver Aquino-Made, who said he got into an argument with the victim after he sent a child to her bedroom to sleep. He said the victim came out of the bedroom accusing of hitting someone whose name was redacted from the sheriff’s office report.

Aquino-Made said the victim grabbed a knife from the kitchen and held it behind her back but never made any threats. He also said the victim hit him in the face and showed deputies a video of the incident, the report says.

The victim told deputies that the argument turned physical when Aquino-Made pushed her to the ground, put his hands around her throat and held her face down into the floor. The victim said she was able to get to her feet and she struggled with Aquino-Made over a belt before grabbing the knife to defend herself, the report says.

The victim told deputies that Aquino-Made followed her closely to her bedroom and “would not leave her alone.” She said she attempted to grab his phone from his hands, striking him twice.

After being read his rights, Aquino-Made admitted that he was following the victim at a close distance. Deputies reviewed a video of the victim attempting to close the bathroom door to shield herself from Aquino-Made but he pushed it back open. The victim then struck him twice, the report says, adding that Aquino-Made said he took video of the incident to “have proof of what the victim was doing so he wouldn’t get in trouble.”

After conducting an investigation, deputies determined that Aquino-Made was the aggressor and placed him under arrest. He was transported to the Marion County Jail and charged with battery. He was released two days later on $500 bond and is due in court Feb. 19 at 9 a.m., jail records show.
