Belleview man jailed after sheriff’s deputy hears threat to kill lady friend

Ryan Anthony Marrero

A Belleview man was arrested Wednesday night after Marion County sheriff’s deputies responded to a residence and heard someone yell, “I will kill you.”

After placing 33-year-old Ryan Anthony Marrero in handcuffs, deputies made contact with the victim, who said Marrero got upset with her because he thought she didn’t believe something he told her. She said the altercation didn’t get physical but Marrero “did jump at her and get into her face,” a sheriff’s office report states.

The victim confirmed to deputies that Marrero made the threat to kill her while standing over her and she was in fear he would become physically violent. She said she believed that if the confrontation had continued, “something bad would have happened.” She also said she had never been that scared in the past, the report says.

After being read his rights, Marrero claimed that “someone is after him and is trying to kill him.” When asked what he said to the victim when deputies arrived at the residence, he said, “I know that. I know that. I was not saying that towards her.” He said he didn’t say, “I will kill you” but instead said, “How would you feel if someone said I was going to kill you,” the report says.

Marrero was placed under arrest and transported to the Marion County Jail, where he was charged with simple assault/threat to do violence. He was being held on $500 bond and is due in court Feb. 23 at 8:30 a.m., jail records show.
