Ocala motorcycle passenger killed in head-on collision in Marion County

An Ocala woman who was riding as a passenger on a motorcycle was killed in a head-on crash Tuesday night in Marion County.

The incident took place about 6:16 p.m. on S.W. 38th Street near S.W. 74th Avenue. The motorcycle, which was being driven by a 54-year-old Ocala man, was traveling east on S.W. 38th Street when it collided with a westbound sedan driven by a 56-year-old Hernando woman, a Florida Highway Patrol report states.

Marion County Fire Rescue responded and transported all three victims to Ocala Regional Medical Center. Both drivers suffered serious injuries and the 65-year-old motorcycle passenger was pronounced dead at the hospital. The cause of the crash remains under investigation, according to the FHP report.
