Multiple Marion County Sheriff’s office units joined forces recently in reference to a battery call involving a victim claiming she was hit in the head with a handgun over talking to another man on the internet.
When deputies arrived, they found the victim actively bleeding from her head with a bite mark with bruising on her left shoulder. The victim said she was allowing a friend, 30-year-old Nicolas Mikhail Samms, to stay at her house temporarily, a sheriff’s office report states.
The victim said Samms was jealous of her speaking with another man via the internet. She claimed he pulled out a handgun and struck her in the head with it multiple times, then bit her on the shoulder. The victim also told deputies that Samms fled from the residence on Spring Loop on foot to an unknown destination.
Paramedics from Marion County Fire Rescue responded to the residence and treated the victim’s injuries, which included multiple lacerations to the side and back of the victim’s head, the report says.
Deputies soon located Samms at his residence at 4 Silver Terr. in Ocala and determined he was carrying a concealed weapon. He was placed under arrest and transported to the Marion County Jail.
A records check showed that Samms had two prior felony convictions – one for possession of cocaine in February 2014 and another one for attempted murder in October 2014. Both convictions occurred in Broward County, the report says.
Samms was charged with aggravated battery using a deadly weapon, possession of a weapon or ammunition by a convicted felon and carrying a concealed unlicensed weapon. He was being held on $22,000 bond and is due in court Feb. 16 at 9 a.m., jail records show.
