Dunnellon man killed in fiery crash when his vehicle slams head-on in tractor trailer cab

A 55-year-old Dunnellon man was killed and two Ocala men were injured in a fiery crash Thursday afternoon in Marion County.

The incident happened around 12:55 p.m. when the sedan was traveling west on County Road 484, just west of S.W. 120th Avenue, and crossed over the center line. It then slammed head-on into a tractor trailer cab being driven by a 23-year-old Ocala man who attempted to swerve to avoid the collision. The sedan became lodged under the truck and both vehicles burst into flames, a Florida Highway Patrol report states.

The driver of the sedan was pronounced dead on scene by Marion County Fire Rescue. The tractor trailer cab driver and his 61-year-old male passenger sustained non-incapacitating injuries, according to the report.
