Joyce Virginia (Finlay) Heenie, 94, of Ocala, passed away on February 21, 2021 at her home. Born January 2, 1927 in West Haven, Connecticut to Irene and Harold G. Finlay, Joyce had a happy childhood in West Haven. She was married to Robert E. Heenie in 1947 and had 3 sons.
In 1956, the family moved to Ocala as their permanent home. Active at First Presbyterian Church of Ocala, Joyce loved Women’s Circle. Joyce enjoyed many years in the medical administration profession working initially for Doctors Albritton and Wilkerson. An avid reader with a curious mind, Joyce was unfailing in her support and encouragement for family and friends. She was much loved and her memory will be cherished as truly wonderful, loving, caring, and generous.
Joyce is preceded in death by her husband Robert, sister Irene Davies, brother Walter Finlay, and daughter-in-law Patricia (Seng) Heenie.
Joyce is survived by her three sons, Robert Earle Heenie, Jr (Amit Pieter) and wife Anne of Paris, France; Clifford Bruce Heenie of Orlando, Florida; and Russell Alan Heenie and wife Liz of Maryville, Tennessee. She is also survived by grandchildren: Jessica (Pieter) Vander Biezen (Tim), Clémence Pieter, Natasha Heenie, Alan Heenie and Elinor Heenie; and two great grandchildren: Eric (Jake) and Melissa Pugh and nieces Wendy Finlay and Carol Ann Claytor.
Memorial donations can be made in Joyce’s memory to the First Presbyterian Church of Ocala at 511 SE 3rd St., Ocala, FL 34471.
A graveside service will be held Friday, February 26, 2021 at 2pm at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Ocala.
