Ocklawaha woman jailed second time on battery charge

Kirstin Amber Phipps

A 21-year-old Ocklawaha woman jailed in 2019 after a spat over text messages she sent to another man was arrested again after she allegedly scratched a man’s arm during another argument.

The victim told a Marion County sheriff’s deputy that he and Kirstin Amber Phipps got into an argument on Tuesday afternoon. He said while he was sitting on the couch, Phipps stood over him and grabbed his arm, causing scratches, according to the sheriff’s office report.

The victim said once Phipps grabbed his arm, he pushed her in the chest to get her away from him. The deputy observed the victim had multiple scratches with blood on his left arm, the report said.

Phipps told the deputy that the victim grabbed her around the neck and she grabbed his arm. She said there weren’t any injuries on the victim’s arm and he was lying. Phipps didn’t have any visible marks or injuries consistent with being grabbed around the neck, according to the report.

Phipps was previously arrested in June 2019 after she admitted to punching her boyfriend after he accused her of cheating and was looking through her texts.

Phipps was charged with simple battery in the latest case and taken to the Marion County Jail, where she was being held Wednesday on $500 bond. She is scheduled to appear in Marion County Court on April 9.
